Magda Archer X Joshua Sanders
Published on:Sick of this shit? Designer Joshua Sanders has teamed up with Jealous artist Magda Archer on a striking monochrome capsule for wearing your art on your sleeve.
Sometimes the boldest statement is simply telling the truth. Text meets textiles Magda Archer’s irreverent motifs get straight to the heart of the matter with four statements rendered in stark black and white, each one a wearable ode to unfiltered feelings, in collaboration with Joshua Sanders.
The collection references the artist's previous and existing designs, featuring elements from 'Did Someone Say Party?' and sold out works, 'Sick of This Shit' and 'Text Me Yeah', initially beginning life as multi-layer screenprints in the Jealous Print Studio, now taking centre stage on fabric.
No stranger to the runway, following on from sought after collaborations with COMME des GARÇONS in 2012 and Marc Jacobs in 2019; Archer brings her signature rawness vs cuteness to Sanders' silhouettes. No colourful distractions, no softening of the message: just bold typography and rainbow-and-kitten illustrations in the artist's signature naive-style that express what we're all thinking but rarely have the heart to say.
The capsule's aesthetic is deliberately minimal: black on white, white on black. Each of the four statements hits with the force of Magda Archer's distinctive voice, transforming Sanders' designs into emotional armour for the modern era: for those about to fix up, look sharp.
