ALDO C GAGLIARDI
Jealous is excited to present ‘PLAY’, the debut exhibition by London-based artist, Aldo C Gagliardi.
Part of PhotoMonth 2026, this exclusive exhibition showcases Aldo Gagliardi’s abstract works exploring image, memory and perception through print fragments drawn from, and transformed beyond, their cinematic origins.
Open for just four days, the exhibition will feature a collection of framed, limited-edition archival digital prints, alongside two exclusive screenprint editions, printed and published at Jealous Print Studio and featuring material from the artist’s recent book, PLAY, published by Specola. The publication extends the project into another form of tangible media and includes essays by Carlo Montariello and Patrick Gamble, alongside poetic reflections by Laura Shipler Chico.
'PLAY No. 11'
Aldo’s works use cinema as a point of departure rather than a subject. Moving between analogue and digital processes, imagery is reconstructed into stills that capture light, bodies and afterimages – carrying traces of personal memory and waves of emotion.
The images occupy an unstable space between familiarity and uncertainty. A frame may seem recognisable without ever becoming identifiable, or trigger a memory that belongs as much to the viewer as to the work itself. Writer and film critic Patrick Gamble describes this through the idea of the ‘false friend’: something familiar enough to suggest immediate meaning, yet capable of leading somewhere entirely different. Removed from cinematic sequence, the image remains fixed while, as Gamble observes, ‘what frames it now is you.’
‘PLAY’ the exhibition and PLAY the book exist as distinct entities, yet are shaped by the same imagery, inviting us to build our own narratives. As Gamble concludes: ‘The frame is fixed. The narrative is ours.’
The exhibition will run from 7–10 October, with its opening night taking place on Thursday 8 October at Jealous, 53 Curtain Road, London EC2A 3PT. Keep up to date with Aldo here.
