MAXINE GREGSON
Jealous presents ‘Nostalgic Utopia’, a solo exhibition from contemporary artist and printmaker, Maxine Gregson.
Take the scenic route and enjoy over twenty mystifying and inviting dreamscapes featuring Maxine Gregson’s jet setting alchemy of retro-futuristic imagery and typography. Screenprinted in the artist’s studio in East London, her works are rooted in nostalgia, where optimism is woven into flashes of gold leaf, desert vistas and lush rainforest panoramas.
'Nostalgic Utopia' will feature a stunning collection of works from the artists prolific catalogue spanning from 2021 - 2026 with newer works such as ‘Highs & Lows’ and ‘Bay Breeze Motel’, available to purchase both framed and unframed.
Like holiday photos from liminal states, photographs of bodies of water are spliced with Brutalist architecture, graph paper and vintage postcards sourced by Gregson and reimagined as part of her inviting universe.
"Nostalgic Utopia is the largest showcase of my work to date, bringing together a selection of collages from across my practice alongside my most recent pieces. These works continue my exploration of combining found retro imagery, childhood memories, and imagined landscapes to create spaces that exist somewhere between recollection and dreams." - Maxine Gregson
‘Nostalgic Utopia’ will run between 11th - 27th June at Jealous, 53 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT, London.
