Sang-Hyun Kim studied Korean Painting at Dong-guk University, Seoul, before relocating to London to study MA Fine Art at Chelsea College of Art & Design. He is a prolific exhibitor, taking part in exhibitions at Oxo Tower, Mokspace, and has an upcoming show at ChelseaFutureSpace. Kim uses his work to connect not only with the viewer but also with the Devine as he interweaves a personal dialect with the importance of Oriental rituals. The use of incense to burn his images echo the rituals of traditional ceremonial offerings in Eastern Asia whilst these attempts of reconciliation between a certain reality and a spiritual dimension bring about motifs which are steeped in the cultural language of his heritage. Sang’s Jealous Prize print edition is now held in the Victoria & Albert Museum Permanent Print Collection.
