Matthew La Croix studied in Berlin, New York and most recently graduated with a Masters in Fine Art, Painting at Royal College of Art. La Croix‘s work has featured in a number of publications and he has exhibited in widely in London. He recently won the Valerie Beston Trust Award and was selected by Sir Paul Smith to stage a solo exhibition of his work at 9 Albermarle St. The nature of La Croix’ present body of visually striking work uses culturally accessible found images as a starting point for creating cross-sections to map the discursive qualities of intertextuality, desire, disappearance and time. Adding comment and commentary with his own mark making Matthew continues to develop this narrative nature of language resulting in images with open ended and unexpected meanings. Matthew’s Jealous Prize print edition is now held in the Victoria & Albert Museum Permanent Print Collection.
