Frank Laws

After spending a year as a bricklayer’s labourer Frank Laws developed not only an admiration for the skill and hard work of the tradesman but also an appreciation of buildings themselves. A British painter, Frank Laws completed an MA at Central St Martins in 2008, and now lives and works in London, where he splits his time between his studio and working as an in-house artist for Louis Vuitton. He's presented work at London's prestigious V&A musuem, the British Library, Somerset House, Lazarides Rathbone, The Print House & Jealous Gallery. A next-generation cityscape artist, Laws' work commonly features the architecture of his local area as inspiration. The hyperrealistic watercolour and ink paintings explore the anonymity of urban living as well as commenting on social regeneration and transformation. The social housing that forms the focus of Laws’ work were designed and constructed with an ideology in mind and Laws reflects this positive sentiment in the approach to his paintings
