Dave was born and raised in Abergavenny, South Wales but moved hurriedly to London when he heard the streets were paved. Described by his university lecturer as “occupying his own unique cultural space”, he started doing illustrated stand-up performances at various dives across the city whilst at Wimbledon School of Art. A couple of years through Soho’s Animation companies, Dave then graduated with distinction with a Masters from Central St Martins. A member of the famous Scrawl Collective, Dave has been part of exhibitions in equally far-flung places, including Philadelphia, Miami, Glasgow and and many in both London and Berlin. A video at London’s Design Museum in 2011 and the opening show at Liberty’s Paper Room were highlights and he’s always looking to exhibit his ideas in evermore exciting new locations. In publication his work can be seen in Fresh: Cutting Edge Illustration (DAAB, 2012), Semi Permanent (DiK, 2010) and Earth: A Visitor's Guide (Dorling Kindersley, 2008). As well as the drawing, Dave is a regular journalist at the arts magazine Blown, showing little mercy in interviews with today’s hottest beat poets and contemporary dancers.
