British Art Fair
28 Sep 2023 — 01 Oct 2023
We are beyond excited to present the artwork of Ines Fernandez de Cordova, a Bolivian-Slovenian artist, at the upcoming British Art Fair held at Saatchi Gallery between 28th September - 1st October. This opportunity comes after the resounding success of her solo exhibition 'Vertical Sprint', which opened at Jealous gallery this May.
After attaining her Master’s degree in Printmaking from Camberwell College of Arts in 2017, Fernandez has participated in numerous exhibitions across London and worldwide. Her impressive exhibition history includes notable venues such as Saatchi Gallery, Blue Shop Cottage and Jealous Gallery. Her artwork has been acquired by various private and public collections, including Soho House.
Alongside her burgeoning artistic practice, Fernandez works as a printmaker for Jealous Print Studios and artist Anita Klein. Over the course of her career, Fernandez’s printmaking techniques have developed dramatically. She has continued to explore ideas surrounding the relationship between objects and time; investigating how time affects the way we perceive and interpret objects, as well as how objects can serve as representations of the passage of time.
In her recent body of work, the artist delves deeper into this concept, using her sculptures as models to create still lives, constructing subtle narratives using sequence, mark-making, layering and mirroring. The work possesses a tranquil stillness, contrasted with strong, graphic elements, formed through the use of collaged grids and vertical cuts. Fernandez is playing with the different qualities of space, shape and texture that each sculpture offers.
Ferdandez’s upcoming solo exhibition will take place this year at Manzana 1 Espacio de Arte, an art gallery situated in the heart of downtown Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia’s historical centre.
