Lakwena X Dior

Lakwena X Dior

Jealous artist Lakwena applies her signature kaleidoscopic vision to Dior's iconic bag, the Lady Dior.

Dior is celebrating a decade long art project for its Lady Dior bag with the Lady Dior Art 10: an anniversary edition where ten visionary artists reinterpret the house's iconic bag through their own unique styles. Joining creatives including Mark Quinn, Ju Ting and Alymamah Rashed, London-born Jealous artist Lakwena’s reinterpretations of the iconic Lady Dior bag reflect the conceptual depth of her practice inspired by acts of holding, containing, and enfolding.

Each design is a continuation of her 2025 Parisian exhibition, ‘I’M IN YOUR HANDS’, as layered metallic elements meet precise colour blocking and embossed phrases previously seen in the artist’s repertoire: "love me," "hold me," and "carry me." The molten cherry on top? Lakwena’s signature jewellery-clad hand motifs evolved into tactile, sculpted bag charms, adding symbolic weight to these rare, highly collectable pieces of wearable art.

“...I began thinking about this project when I’d just had my daughter and was carrying her around everywhere. So I was thinking a lot about all the things we as women carry and hold and care for. And that came out in the words we put on the bags.” - Lakwena

Drawing from her Ugandan and British heritage alongside pop culture references, Lakwena has developed a distinctive visual language across paintings, murals, and installations, creating powerful visual statements through vibrant color and deliberate text, channeling optimism into every work.
