To mark the awarding of the 2019 Jealous Prize to Alvin Ong, Francisco Rodriguez, Lydia Boehm and Phillip Reeves. We will be exhibiting a selection of their works alongside their print edition made in the Jealous Studios to honour the occasion.

Best known for uncovering upcoming artistic talent, ‘The Jealous Prize 2019’ features this years four recipients; Alvin Ong MA Royal College of Art, Francisco Rodriguez MA Slade School of Art, Lydia Boehm MA Royal College of Art and Phillip Reeves MA Goldsmiths. The Prize, now in it’s 10th year, seeks to encapsulate a poignant moment for recent MA Graduates, of their graduation and their entry into The Art World. The Prize supports the winners, giving them the chance to create a limited edition with Jealous’ experienced studio team, with dedicated exhibitions in Jealous’ galleries, the launch of their limited edition prints to an international audience and finally the addition of their screenprints to a growing archive at London’s Victoria & Albert Museum. The exhibition brings together these four artists works for the first time, featuring imposing large-scale paintings, video performance, sculpture and new limited edition screenprints by each of the four winners, created in Jealous Print Studios.
The Jealous Prize is a residency at Jealous Print Studios, where winners collaborate with the studio team to create a limited edition screenprint. For many winners this is their first experience of print making, opening the medium to a new generation of artists and encouraging renewed dialogues, processes and experimentation; of which this years winners pursued with vigour, including Phillip Reeves’ innovative use of an onion bhaji to create his edition.
Each year, the resulting prints from The Jealous Prize portfolio is added to a growing archive that forms part of the Victoria and Albert Museum’s Permanent Print Collection. Gill Saunders, Senior Curator for Prints at the V&A, visited Jealous Print Studio in 2013 and spoke of how delighted she was to receive such a diverse and important collection of work from a selection of the country’s best emerging talent. In 2014, Saatchi Gallery dedicated a month-long exhibition to The Jealous Prize in their Prints and Editions Department.
