With Ben Kelly's exhibition, 'Prints Paintings Poles' soon to open at Jealous, take the time to get to know the artist and explore his previous projects.

Renowned artist and designer Ben Kelly will be hosting his first Jealous exhibition this September. He has directed successful and innovative projects across the UK, Europe and Asia. He is best known for his interior design of the legendary nightclub, The Haçienda in Manchester. His practice has produced influential work for 180 The Strand, Virgil Abloh, The Sex Pistols, The V&A, Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren, Factory Records, 4AD, The Science Museum, The Design Council, The Natural History Museum, Gymbox and BIMM.

Ben’s installation work has been commissioned by: The Vinyl Factory & 180 The Strand, The Southbank Centre and British Council and is held in the permanent collection of the V&A and British Council.


Kelly will be presenting a series of paintings made over the past 3 years, as well as a series of screenprints made in the Jealous Studio. The artist has worked closely with our studio team to create 6 special screenprinted editions, which will be released on 5th September 2024, alongside the opening of the exhibition PRINTS PAINTINGS POLES.

Howie 1976 - Long Acre Covent Garden


 


SEDITIONARIES 1977 - shop at 430 King’s Road, Covent Garden. This space previously housed Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s infamous boutique, SEX.


 

 


Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark, self titled album 1980 - Vinyl sleeve designed in collaboration with art director and graphic designer, Peter Saville.




The Haçienda 1982 - Kelly designed the legendary Manchester club interior. One that a few of you may remember experiencing in the flesh!

 


‘Ruin’ The Vinyl Factory, 180 The Strand 2017 - Ben Kelly and Virgil Abloh collaborated to create an immersive installation celebrating dance music and club history.



The Basement, National Museum of Science and Industry 1995 - Kelly transformed the Manchester museum's children’s space into a ‘Haçienda for kids’. Lucky, lucky, children!


 


'100 Records’ The Vinyl Factory: Reverb, 180 The Strand 2024 - see the site-specific installation designed by Kelly, created to display 100 records by various artists and released by The Vinyl Factory between 2009 - 2024.
