The Lost Domain

Stanley Donwood has returned to Jealous for our final show of the year. The exhibition features a selection of works printed in the Jealous Print Studio, including ‘Sol’, a striking 10 colour screenprint edition depicting a radiant sun with a tangle of vine-like rays beaming down on the colourful wildlife.
Within this body of work, Donwood presents a selection of evocative tree-lined landscapes with ominous figures looming and uncanny seascapes in the dead of night. These hauntingly beautiful artworks conjure a feeling of nostalgia for a place not yet known, an unattainable ‘Somewhen’.
‘The Lost Domain’ will run from 28th November until 21st December, with the gallery opening evening held on 5th December at Jealous, 53 Curtain Road, EC2A 3PT, between 6.30-8.30pm.
Stanley Donwood is an artist and writer, best known for his work with Radiohead, having won two Grammys for his artwork for the band’s albums Amnesiac and In Rainbows. He has been the official artist of the Glastonbury music festival since 2002.
The Lost Domain' or 'Le Grand Meaulnes' is the title of the only book by Alain-Fournier, who was killed during the first month of the First World War. It is a strange novel about the hopelessness of longing for the unobtainable.

Donwood set up The Lost Domain, his print publishing company, during the pandemic to continue working and providing work to people he knew.
With some friends, I set up a small print publishing company and called it 'The Lost Domain'. This was back in 2021, and since then we have released twelve editions of pictures that I have made. These pictures are also about the hopelessness of longing for the unobtainable.

Goodwill is at the heart of this project, and 15% of profits from the sale of this edition will be donated to Medical Aid for Palestinians, a charity close to the artist’s heart.
