A graduate from Chelsea School of Art, Ozlem makes colourful and vibrant sculptures that play with light and our perceptions of space and form.
My work is the result of my investigations into the nature of light, colour and perception. I am particularly interested in the interplay between light and aluminium. The work is set up as an exploratory situation for the viewer. I am primarily concerned with perceptual experience that stems from the viewer’s interaction with my work. As the viewer moves around the work, the light reflected on the surface seems to be active and moving in various states.
I am exploring the acts of viewing and perceiving and intend to make works that demand a particular kind of looking so that the viewer’s experience can be enhanced.
